"bodegas santalba is located in gilimeo, next to haro, in the heart of the rioja alta, 40 km from logroño. its geographical location, climate and soil have determined the uniqueness of this region, its land and its wines, giving it an incomparable character of its own. santalba, the name of the winery, comes from the union of the name and surname of its owner and founder: santiago ijalba. with his experience since 1964 in making and maturing great rioja wines, santiago decided to launch his own personal project. since then, the winery has maintained an absolutely familiar character and has the support of his children, who combine the family's wine-making tradition with international oenological training. the quality of his wines is the sum of many details, all of which are essential. the starting point and the fundamental basis of quality is the vineyard. for this reason, at bodegas santalba, the care, monitoring and exhaustive control of the plots and a rigorous selection of grapes from the main terroirs and sites of the d.o. ca rioja is vital for the best wines to be obtained once in the cellar and following the authentic winemaking traditions of la rioja. red tempranillo grapes have been used in the making of this wine. thanks to this, you can keep your appearance and qualities for much longer. variety: 100% tempranillo serving temperature: 8oc. very light colour, slightly salmon-coloured, clean and brilliant. very intense aroma, with a great fruity charge of red fruits, strawberries and raspberries. in the mouth it has a good structure, great acidity and medium body. a long fruity aftertaste and a very tasty memory. to be paired with rice, risottos, asian food, smoked products, blue fish, aperitifs, seafood, pasta."
