every year, since the founding of the house of krug, a new edition of krug grande cuvée is launched to delight palates with the most generous expression of champagne. krug grande cuvée 169th edition is a blend of 146 wines from 11 different years, the youngest dating from 2013, and the oldest from 2000. the bottles are left in the cellar for an average of seven years to reach their full expression and elegance. each bottle is the result of over 20 years of experience. krug grande cuvée 169th edition was created from broths from the 2013 harvest. the season began with a long winter, followed by a cool, rainy spring. fortunately, the summer was warm and sunny, although there were hailstorms that damaged the vines. the wines of the vintage have body and are aromatic and expressive. to create this edition, the master winemaker wanted to accentuate the roundness and elegance of the 2013 aromas with wines from different parcels and ten other vintages. the special attention and mime given to the vines and the respect for the uniqueness of each parcel allowed the greatest expressiveness to be revealed in this edition of krug grande cuvée. wines from krug's vast library of reserve wines make up 40% of the final blend, giving each edition of krug grande cuvée its essential fullness and roundness. this bottle of krug grande cuvée is composed of pinot noir (43%), chardonnay (35%) and meunier (22%).
