atamisque chardonnay 2018

atamisque is a 70-hectare estate located in the famous mendoza region of argentina, in the tupungato area. owned by john du monceau, the estate is located at an altitude of 1,300 meters in one of the most qualitative areas of the argentinean vineyard. the soil, partly clay and sand, also includes alluvial soils. the vines are over 80 years old and produce a concentrated and fine wine. above all, the diurnal amplitude (difference in temperature between the hot days and the very cool nights) allows the malbec to ripen perfectly while preserving the acidity of the berries, a guarantee of balance and conservation of the wines. the cellar was designed to work by gravity, to avoid pumping. all the barrels used are french (taransaud and demptos coopers). the wines are astonishing in their accuracy and precision. at the top of the hierarchy of argentine wines. "atamisque" is a bush of local origin, which grows naturally in the vicinity of the winery and represents the highest range of the estate. it is certainly one of the finest chardonnays we have tasted in argentina. aged for 12 months in french barrels, this atypical and complex chardonnay is bursting with fruit aromas such as pineapple, citrus, mirabelle plum and peach as well as beautiful notes of white flowers, vanilla and honey. the wood has been judiciously and subtly conducted which brings complexity to the wine. on the palate it is smooth and creamy complemented by moderate acidity and a touch of minerality on the finish. there is no heaviness as the vineyards are planted at 1300 meters of altitude. a first class white !
