"making a mark in cote de beaune right now we find pierre-yves colin-morey. with a talent for exceptional winemaking, colin-morey is notable for producing stunning, intuitive bourgogne blanc, which rely heavily on terroir and site-specific expressions of the chardonnay varietal. pierre yves honed his winemaking skills working for his father, marc colin, and after inheriting 6 hectares of vineyards in st. aubin, he quickly set about launching his own domain in 2006. almost immediately his wines were a tour de force. having also worked as a négociant he’s been able to augment the grapes he grows (70% of his grapes are those that he grows) with high quality grapes acquired from leading premier and grand crus vineyards such as chevalier montrachet. he opts for larger demi-muld for aging to limit the influence of the oak. the results are spectacular, natural wines rich with minerality and character."
