the estate of emmerich knoll is located in the village of unterloiben in the wachau region of northeast austria. the vineyards, 15 hectares in total, are located in schutt, loibenberg, kellenberg and kreutles in the wachau and in pfaffenberg in the kremstal. grüner veltliner and riesling share 90% of the vineyards. the remaining 10% are planted with chardonnay, gebler muskateller, traminer, rivaner and pinot noir. the wines of emmerich knoll are among the finest and most elegant of this region and have great ageing potential. the estate's wines are easily recognizable by their traditional labels depicting urban, the patron saint of winemakers and vineyards. deep and intense, this wine is round yet mineral on the finish, like the cellar, elegant, taut, it is a wine of great class. the site ried schütt, in the immediate vicinity of dürnstein, shows especially in the vintage 2021 finest hints of white flowers and herbs on the nose, subtle stone fruit, white apple. salty minerality and complexity without end. very good development potential. 2021 is a super harmonious vintage with fine elegance, body and power. good development potential for further years.
