The future of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti
The Domaine de la Romanée-Conti or DRC is one of the most prestigious wine estates in the world with 25.5 hectares mostly in Vosne-Romanée on the route des Grands Crus in the Côte de Nuits vineyards of Burgundy.
Aubert de Villaine, at the head of the most famous Winery in the world since 1971 is preparing to step down. At the time of a historical change, what about the future of the Domaine ?
First of all, this handover has been prepared very carefully. Aubert de Villaine has been guiding the new generation for several years and will still be present to advise. He remains confident in the continuation of the Romanée-Conti’s credo, with a respect of the terroir and a special attention to details.
Furthermore, he believes that Burgundy’s tradition of family wineries is constitutive of the region. Indeed, his nephew Bertrand de Villaine will be co-leading the Domaine with Perrine Fenal, the cousin of the previous co-leader Henry-Frédéric Roch.
In the end, the new generation will be free and responsible for its own choices and experiments but in the same boundaries and vision as their predecessors.
