The AOC Arbois-Pupillin comes from the AOC Arbois, and identifies a large part of the production of the very small commune of Pupillin, south of Arbois. 300 hectares of plots of land, located at an altitude of 500m, are planted on a particular terroir of steeply sloping hillsides, with soils composed of Triassic sub-surface marls, devoid of chaille clay.
This specificity can be found in the grape varieties, which excludes the Trousseau grape variety, typical of the Arbois region, in favor of Poulsard, Savagnin and Chardonnay, which are more at ease in these conditions.
Like the AOC Arbois, the vineyard produces white wines reputed to be aromatic, generous and very rustic. Pupillin even aspires to the title of world capital of Poulsard.
