The Côte Catalanes extend from Barcarès to Cerbère on the coast of Languedoc-Roussillon. The Vin de pays produced is that of the villages of the northern part of the Côte des Pyrénées Orientales. The Vin de pays des côtes catalanes belongs to one of the largest wine production areas in the world, belonging to the production of Languedoc-Roussillon and Roussillon wines, of which the AOCs are the most numerous.
More sandy than the southern part of the coast, the soil reveals grape varieties reminiscent of the garrigue, fruit and spices. Light and largely fruity, the Vin de Pays des Côtes Catalanes offers soft and long aromas on the palate. Centuries-old Grenache and Merlot give this local wine a round and supple taste. Vinification in open vats, which is very common in this geographical region, preserves the fruitiness as well as a very pleasant tannic structure.
