Umbria, a region with a very high winemaking vocation as well as a thousand years of history, has not been the servant of Tuscany for many years, but it has acquired its own oenological and explosive personality, both in terms of quality and market.
The two pearls of regional oenology are born in magical territories: the Torgiano, an immense Sangiovese that has nothing to envy the great Tuscans, usually presented as a grape similar to Chianti, and the Sagrantino of Montefalco, an extraordinary wine for its breadth and intensity, with imposing tannins and great longevity.
Among Umbrian whites, Orvieto is one of the great Italian wines. Obtained from the tuff and mineral soils of the marvelous Umbrian city, it comes from the autochthonous Grechetto grape, thanks to which the Procanico is produced, which keeps its freshness for many years and can undergo surprising refinement for more than 15 years.
In the Orvieto area, the production of white wines from international grapes represents excellence, such as Chardonnay (like the mythical Cervaro della Sala), while the Montefalco area is appreciated for its Trebbiano Spoletino, a white wine to be discovered that offers intense spicy sensations. It should not be forgotten that Umbria is also a land of wines with noble rot, perhaps the most productive in Italy, thanks to the many lakes and humidity that produce it.
