The Veneto region is located in northeastern Italy and borders four other regions. Geographically, the Veneto is the most varied wine region in Italy. On the one hand, one third of it is covered by mountain ranges, and on the other hand, the region has vast rice fields and a wide coastal strip in the central plain. The Veneto therefore has a wide range of different styles of wine produced on a wine-growing area of 75,000 hectares.
Nearly a quarter of this area produces quality wines with DOC status. The hills of the hinterland produce mainly white wine. The main white grape varieties of Veneto wines are Garganega (Soave), Glera (Prosecco) and Tai (Breganze).
