Luján de Cuyo is a department in the province of Mendoza. It is important for its wine production, oil and petrochemical industry, as well as for tourism.
Luján de Cuyo is an Argentinean denomination of controlled origin (DOC) for the wines made from Malbec and coming from the homonymous production area in the province of Mendoza. It is the first wine DOC in Argentina. The production area of the protected wines includes the districts of Ciudad, Mayor Drummond, Vistalba, Las Compuertas, Carrodilla, La Puntilla, Chacras de Coria, Perdriel and Agrelo, located in lands between 800 and 1,000 meters above sea level, in the department of Luján de Cuyo.
