The Sancerre appellation covers an area of about 3,000 hectares on which three specific terroirs are found: "terres blanches", "caillottes" and "chailloux", vestiges of the geological uplift of Cretaceous and Jurassic layers.
These different terroirs allow for very different expressions of the two grape varieties present in Sancerre: Sauvignon, which is the overwhelming majority, and Pinot Noir. Approximately 20% of the plots are occupied by the Pinot Noir grape variety which allows the production of Sancerre rosé.
AOC since 1959, the Sancerre rosé made from Pinot noir grape variety presents very different colors ranging from salmon to the tender color of the onion skin. In the mouth, it is a delicate wine, with traces of spices. As a dessert wine, dessert, or mixed salad wine, you will also enjoy it with cheese for a tasting full of flavor. And if you have the patience to let it develop its aromas, it will even have its place in the heart of a gastronomic meal!
