A small wine-producing region located in the province of Catalonia, Priorat is one of Spain's three must-see wine regions, along with Rioja and Ribera del Duero.
This 1850-hectare appellation is spread over 11 municipalities south of Tarragona on a terroir composed mainly of schist. The main grape varieties are Grenache and Carignan to which have been added more recently Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah.
The DO Priorat appellation is known for its exceptional rosé wines, made from native grape varieties and old vines. Testifying to a terroir with an asserted identity, Priorat rosé wines resolutely express the singularity of their region.
