The AOC Mercurey is located in the north of the Côte, in the extension of the Rully vineyard. It’s, with 645 hectares, the largest vineyard in the Côte Chalonnaise area.
A total of 27,000 hectoliters of wine of this appellation are produced each year in the area. Thirty climates deserve Premier Cru status, the most renowned being Clos-des-Montaigus, Clos-des-Fournaux, Clos-Voyens and Clos-du-Roy.
The reds, cherry ruby, are very rich in aromas of red and black fruits. They also offer a good persistence, notably thanks to the presence of tannins which do not dominate its fruitiness, and which gives them a good ageing potential.
