The AOC Touraine belongs to the sub-region of the same name located in the Loire Valley. The vineyard extends over approximately 4,000 hectares. They are locally called "aubuis" and "tufs" when they are clayey-limestone, and "parakeets" when they are clayey-siliceous.
The climates of this terroir are very variable, with an oceanic tendency. The vineyard produces 251,000 hectoliters annually. The red wines come from various grape varieties; gamay, cabernet franc, cot and pinot noir are the most used for the reds.
