The AOC Loupiac is located on the right bank of the Garonne, between Cadillac and Sainte-Croix-du-Mont. It is part of the Entre-deux-Mers region. The vineyard of 400 ha produces about 12.500 hl of sweet white wines per year.
Close to the Garonne and Galouchey rivers, Loupiac benefits from an incredible microclimate. The mists released by the rivers favour the development of noble rot. This fungus dries out the grapes and concentrates their sugars. The soils here are clay-limestone composed of gravel and clay. The soil/climate combination of Loupiac is ideal for the production of airy sweet wines. Semillon is the main grape variety of this AOC. It is blended with Sauvignon and Muscadelle.
All this gives the wines of Loupiac an ample and unctuous character, as well as an elegant structure supported by a beautiful acidity. The aromatic persistence surprises by its length and richness. Wines that are both nervous and delicate, they can be kept for 8 to 10 years or even longer for certain vintages.
