The Gigondas AOC extends over the 1,230 hectares of vineyards in the commune of Gigondas in Vaucluse, at the foot of the famous Dentelles de Montmirail. The terroir is divided into 2 production areas: the slopes of the massif, with sandy soils on limestone subsoils, and the upper Ouvèze terrace with stony soils.
The vineyard as a whole is planted mainly with Grenache, in addition to the equally classic grape varieties of the southern Rhône valley, Syrah and Mourvèdre. With its 39,000 hectoliters of wine, the Gigondas AOC produces wines recognized as powerful, full-bodied, tannic, and with a high alcohol content, reminding us that Châteauneuf-du-Pape is not far away. They have a nose of spices and black olives, and a dark robe.
