The AOC Côtes-du-Roussillon extends from the Albères to the Corbières massif, over 118 communes in the Pyrénées Orientales and produces about 170,000 hectoliters per year. Crossed by 3 rivers (the Agly, the Têt and the Tech), the relief of this territory is composed of terraces and hills.
The soils of this AOC are composed of granite, gneiss, brown and black schists, clay-limestone, and stony terraces. The Mediterranean climate present in the region is an ideal climate for the development of the vine. Red wines represent 80% of the production.
The wines of the AOC Côtes-du-Roussillon must come from the blend of at least 3 of the following grape varieties: carignan, grenache noir, syrah, cinsault and mourvèdre. Côtes-du-Roussillon reds are fleshy, fruity and spicy wines.
