The AOC Fronton is in fact since 2005 the new name of the AOC Cotes du Frontonnais.
The terroirs, their surface area and the wines produced remain the same (they are still often called by their old name).
The communal mentions "Fronton" or "Villaudric" which used to identify the production area have disappeared. They designated the 2 vineyards which, together, were at the origin of the creation of the AOC Cotes du Frontonnais in 1975.
The vineyard has kept an original grape variety with the negrette, a local variety found in Gaillac; it is mainly associated with syrah, cot, cabernet franc and cabernet-sauvignon, fer-servadou and gamay.
