The AOC Banyuls Grand Cru is produced on the same terroir as the AOC Banyuls, which covers the communes of Banyuls, Collioure, Port-Vendres and Cerbère, and has a surface area of 1,150 hectares for a total production of approximately 25,700 hectoliters of wine per year.
The AOC Banyuls Grand Cru is a natural sweet wine that differs from traditional Banyuls by its proportion of Grenache.
The sugar content of the grapes at harvest is also taken into account in the attribution of the AOC Banyuls Grand Cru, in order to guarantee maximum restitution of the natural aromas of the fruit. The Banyuls Grand Cru has a long ageing time, which can exceed 20 years.
