The regional appellation "Mâcon" can be followed by local names showing the quality of the terroirs of the Mâconnais. These AOCs are famous for the multiplicity of terroirs and reliefs of southern Burgundy.
They all date back to 2005 and are distributed here and there, between Chalon-sur-Saône and Mâcon, in the heart of southern Burgundy. The grape varieties used are pinot noir and gamay for the red wine and rosé and chardonnay for the white wine.
The terroirs are mainly limestone with continental influences. The white wines produced are of very good quality and still affordable for Burgundy. The white wines combine power and finesse. They are aromatic and are drunk quite often in their youth.
