The Pernand-Vergelesses appellation d'origine contrôlée is a village appellation in the Côte de Beaune, in the Côte-d'Or region. The production area is strictly limited to the commune of Pernand-Vergelesses. In addition to three Grands Crus, it includes 8 climats classified as Pernand-Vergelesses Premier Cru: Sous Frétille, Clos Berhet, Clos du Village, Creux de la Net, En Caradeux, Ile des Vergelesses, Les Fichots, Les Vergelesses.
The vineyard of Pernand-Vergelesses Premier Cru extends over approximately 130 hectares at an altitude of between 250 and 300 meters. Most of the vines are exposed to the east, south and some to the northeast. At the base of the hillside, the vineyard rests on clay-limestone soils mixed with "chaillots.
Pernand-Vergelesses Premier Cru wines are white wines made from 100% Chardonnay, the majority grape variety in Burgundy. The white wines, white gold and pale yellow tint with age. The aromas of white flowers announce with time amber and honey, spices still.
