mas farre tinto is a wine produced by the mas farre estate, located in the montsant wine region of catalonia, spain. the estate has a history of winemaking going back several generations, but it was only officially founded in 2002 by the farre family. since then they have worked hard to produce quality wines using traditional methods and ensuring that all stages of production are carried out in a sustainable manner. mas farre tinto is a blend of grenache, carignan and syrah, aged for 12 months in french oak barrels. it has a deep ruby colour with purple highlights. the vintage may vary, but recent vintages have been noted for their quality and ageing potential. on the nose, mas farre tinto is intense with aromas of ripe black fruits, cherries and blackcurrants, as well as hints of liquorice, vanilla and tobacco. on the palate, it is full-bodied with a velvety texture and supple tannins. the dark fruit flavours are accompanied by spicy notes and dark chocolate, making this a complex and balanced wine. mas farre tinto can be stored for several years in good conditions, away from light and at a stable temperature. it is recommended to serve it at a temperature of 16-18°c, accompanied by grilled meats, stewed dishes or mature cheeses.
