"the family holdings were extended to 12 hectares when jean-jacques married andrée noëllat, who contributed the parcels of nuits-saint-georges 1er cru boudots and vosne-romanée 1er cru les beaux monts, as well as some vines in clos de vougeot grand cru and a parcel in romanée saint-vivant grand cru. when anne-marie died in 1980, the two brothers decided to go their separate ways, dividing the land. shortly afterwards, in 1982 jean-jacques fell ill and his wife andrée and daughter sophie took over the business, selling part of their production to a local négociant and making their own wine with the rest. in 1985, while sophie was studying viticulture at the lycée viticole de beaune, she met alain meunier, who would change the property towards organic viticulture. gradually, they became one of the most promising small winemakers in the côte d'or. today, the couple owns 8 hectares and produces in 14 different appellations. their 0.5 ha of the grand cru romanée-saint-vivant and their 0.5 ha of the grand cru clos de vougeot are located right on the slope, in a very privileged location. in chambolle they have 0.35 ha divided between the 1er cru châtelots and the 1er cru feusselottes, which they vinify together, as well as 1.15 ha in various plots with village classification. in vosne-romanée they have 0.3 ha of 1er cru les beaux monts and in nuits-saint-georges 0.3 ha of 1er cru boudots, 0.44 ha in 1er cru les chaboeufs and 1.23 ha of village classification. the rest is divided between several plots of land from which they make regional wines of bourgogne pinot noir, bourgogne aligoté and bourgogne passe-tout-grains. tradition and the latest technology coexist in the winery. the bunches are completely destemmed and placed in 25 to 50 hl cement vats, with hardly any crushing, for subsequent cold maceration. fermentation is carried out by controlling the temperature and retaining co2 to maintain the aromatic freshness of the grapes. the wine is left to settle on its lees until it is racked into oak barrels, new for the grand cru and second or third use for the rest of the range, where it is aged for between 15 and 18 months, depending on the vintage. the wines are bottled with minimum doses of sulphur dioxide, without fining or filtering, in order to maintain the typicity of each terroir. this bottle offers a pleasant glass of wine with a powerful nose of blackberries and raspberries and a clear presence of terroir. the mouthfeel is creamy and soft. the taste is pure with fine tannins and a very tight and seductive aftertaste."
