"antoine jaboulet founded his company in 1834, in tain-l'hermitage. his sons paul and henri succeeded him, then it was the turn of louis, paul's son. then came gérard, louis' son, and finally, from 1997, michel jaboulet, gérard's cousin, who took over the reins of the estate until 2006 when the house was bought by the frey group, owner of vineyards in champagne and bordeaux (château la lagune). the heritage is then exceptional: 125 hectares of vines, 25 of which are located on the famous hermitage hill, the second most important vineyard heritage on this unique site. other appellations complete the range: saint-joseph, crozes-hermitage, cornas, châteauneuf-du-pape, côte-rôtie and condrieu. it is oenologist caroline frey who now manages a house with a reputation that was already established but which is serenely returning to an excellent level. since 2013, the jaboulet vineyard has been officially converted to organic farming. the high environmental value certification was already obtained in 2015. but beyond the certifications, the objective of the house remains unchanged: to preserve the quality of the fruit, to vinify with rigour, and to mature with finesse in order to best reveal each terroir of this great rhône vineyard. jaboulet has been producing organic wines since 2017. paul jaboulet ainé hermitage le chevalier de sterimberg 2018 is delicious northern rhone white with detectable oak, balance, complexity and intensity. s-sniffing it brings you quince, lemon peel, honeysuckle, limestone, candle wax, white pepper and salinity, which also emerges on the palate. it pairs wonderfully with a platter with hard cheeses and charcuterie, as flavors and acid will complement each bite."
