the (brand new) domaine des closiers is located in parnay, in the heart of the saumur champigny appellation. 15 hectares of 30-year-old vines make up this little jewel, which should already be followed closely. indeed, this project is born with the meeting of several actors already well known in the loire landscape. let's mention among them michel chevré (clos de l'ecotard) for the conversion to organic farming and winemaking, or nady foucault (formerly clos rougeard) for the follow-up of the breeding. this gathering of forces has only one goal: to give the wine the pure expression of the saumur limestone. the soils are worked with care and without any oenological crutch (except for sulfur in microscopic quantities). the grapes are handled in the cellar with gentleness and precision, using state-of-the-art winemaking equipment: pneumatic horizontal press, sorting table, oscillys de-stemmer, thermo-regulated vats...the infused grapes are intact and pure, with a tactile quality of incredible finesse. if les coudraies is only aged in vats and shines through its fruit, the next vintages will be aged in contact with wood (the dussiaux barrels of a certain ... clos rougeard). we warned you, the domaine is to be watched urgently! les closiers 2020 from the closiers estate is a red wine made from the cabernet franc grape (100%). new name for this second vintage, in 2019 this vintage was named "expression" and now named "les closiers" vintage. les closiers vintage has an illuminated garnet color, for a nose that tends towards fresh hay, with aromas of red and black fruits, as well as a hint of mint and licorice. on the palate, this cuvée has a pleasant texture finely underlined by the tannins, offering an elegant, fruity and greedy wine.
