clos larrouyat comete 2021
Reference: 105614Stock: 11 (stock immediately available)
Condition: bottle in perfect condition
those who like acidity and tension will find it in the wines of maxime (a graduate oenologist from bordeaux) and lucie salharang (mechanical design engineer), but also something to discourage about the sharp precision of small and large mansengs from béarn at altitude. beyond the first consistency, you have to go far to seek depth, without forgetting that beyond the chair, there is first of all the spirit. the larrouyat spirit is that of a place, a vineyard of barely 3 hectares, those of the grandfather, planted from 2011 with petit manseng, in gan, on a marl soil on trias, exposed to the east, deprived of the setting sun which makes the degree. clos larrouyat thus has the unique privilege of being the sole master of a terroir where the grapes struggle to graze 13°, and of producing the most digestible wines of the appellation. the brilliance of the wines – those of 2020, a hot vintage with which lucie and maxime salharang knew how to compose brilliantly; and especially the 2021, totally liberated – associate the domain with a first star. the wines: the cold vineyard produces jurançons with a particular resonance, with a pure breath that allows vinification without yeast and specialized aging in barrels to flesh out the mid-palate. three cuvées are offered by the estate: comète and météore, the two dry ones, and phoenix the sweet one. in 2020, comet tiptoes forward in its game-changing hot vintage suit; the wine takes on fat in the mid-palate on more exotic flavors, always with this sapid and regular finish. the tension of the petit manseng, supplemented by camaralet, is perfect. in 2021, return to the identity of the domain: with this straight vintage, the wine has weight and an exceptional salivating intensity. météore is a blend of gros manseng and petit manseng with a sharp distinction on zesty bitters, of an incredible sapid and tasty dimension. the terroir imprint vibrates even more in this 2021: victoria pineapple and saffron in a slender mouth. finally, phoenix flies away on a controlled sugar and a salivating tension. "comète" is a top-of-the-range cuvée: selection of free-run juice, 75% petit manseng (for the aromatic palette) and 25% camaralet (for the structure in the mouth). a wine of irreproachable purity, complex and with a remarkable length, enhanced by the saline touch which is the trademark of the estate. bravo!
