"the burgundian maxime magnon moved to villeneuve-les-corbières in 2002. he has previously worked with two references, philippe valette and thierry allemand. the estate is planted in carignan (50%), syrah (2%), cinsault (20%) and black grenache (28%) for red grape varieties. for white grape varieties, grey grenache is the majority (70%) followed by white grenache (25%) and macabeu (5%). 45,000 bottles are produced per year for an area of 15.5 hectares (9 hectares in red, 6.5 in white). on average, the vines are 80 years old. maxime reintroduced sheep, donkeys and cows, which graze in the vineyards between november and mid-april to promote microbial life. as for winemaking, maxime adopts a rather interventionist philosophy, notably using whole clusters with indigenous yeasts. largely influenced by the beaujolaise school, he now manages to take the best of this approach while defining his particular style. the maxime magnon estate covers an area of 15.5 hectares of vines (including 9 hectares of red grape variety) in the heart of the corbières appellation located in the languedoc. the terroir is composed of limestone and shale. the estate is certified in organic agriculture. the cuvée campagnès is a monocépage of carignan. the vines are more than 100 years old. the harvest is done manually. the vinification takes place in concrete vats in whole harvests, without addition of sulphur. there is no filtering or gluing. ageing is carried out in burgundy barrels of 6 to 8 wines. on the nose we perceive fragrances of ripe cherry and strawberry and notes of sweet spices. the mouth is sensual and velvety while being fleshy. the finish is impressive of purity. enjoy this wine in its early years to enjoy the sparkle of the fruit or wait three to five years to drink it in a more mature dimension. carafer in its youth and drink at 16°c.
