Côtes du Jura

The Côtes du Jura appellation is the most extensive of the Jura appellations. The AOC Côtes du Jura extends from the north to the south of the vineyard, which gives it a large number of contrasts of terroirs. The terroir of Côtes du Jura wines today covers a total area of 640 hectares of vines spread over 105 communes.

 

The vines of the Côtes du Jura are generally oriented southwest, west, and even south, sometimes located on slopes that vary from 10 to 40%. The vineyard of the Côtes du Jura wines lies on stony and clayey soils at an altitude of between 200 and 400 meters. The subsoil is homogenous and composed of marl and limestone gravel. 

 

The white Côtes du Jura wines are made from Chardonnay (locally called Melon d'Arbois or Gamay Blanc) and Savagnin (locally called Naturé). The appellation is remarkably represented by quality producers such as Domaine Stéphane Tissot, Domaine Ganevat, Domaine Jean Macle or Domaine Labet.
