Whisky is a grain brandy aged at least 3 years in oak casks and must be at least 40 degrees. It is necessary to understand first of all what single malt is. It is a grain brandy, made only from malted barley from a single distillery.
Then, we have Blended Malt or Pure Malt which are the whiskies of assembly of several single malt. We also have blended whiskies which are a blend of single malt, one or more single malt with grain whisky.
Grain whisky is a different type of whisky, which is distilled in column stills often made from wheat or corn.
Whether it is a blend or single malt, it is mainly found in Scotland and Japan. There are also other families of whiskey, including Irish whiskey which is made from malted or unmalted barley and wheat. There is also bourbon in the United States made from corn as well as its cousin from Tennessee, Tennessee whiskey which is represented mainly by Jack Daniels and also Canadian whiskey and Rye whiskey which are made from rye.
