The AOC Condrieu delimits 130 hectares of vineyards, geographically distributed around the town of Condrieu but which affect 3 departments. This northern Côtes-du-Rhône AOC has the particularity of producing only white wines, which were highly appreciated by the nobility in the 15th century.
The vineyard, which includes that of the AOC Château-Grillet, cultivates its identity by being the only one to have chosen a grape variety entirely made up of Viognier. Harvested in often late harvests, it makes the most of the Mediterranean heat and sunshine which forge the reds of character reputed in the neighbouring AOCs of Côte-Rôtie and Saint-Joseph.
Mainly vinified in dry and semi-dry, Condrieu is an original white wine that presents a fabulous aromatic diversity and a colorful robe that becomes golden with age. Supple, fresh and with a nice length in the mouth, it offers exquisite floral and fruit aromas. This appellation has the aesthetic particularity of being bottled in the famous "Condrieu flute" in yellow glass. The softness that can be produced in great vintages is remarkable, and is well on the way to obtaining a specific AOC.
