On the west coast of the country, the huge district of Swartland extends to the north of the Cape Peninsula, 50 kilometers from the metropolis. This district covers a large area, from the Piketberg plains in the north to the Paardeberg mountains in the south.
Vine planting sites are carefully selected because Swartland is a region characterized by its heat and drought: summers are long and hot and water is quite scarce. Indeed, due to the dryness of the soil, the vines produce small grapes with a high concentration of aromas and flavors. The producers obtain generous and powerful wines.
The Swartland district produces some of the best white wines in South Africa; here they are mainly based on Chenin Blanc.
