Mendoza is undoubtedly the Argentinean wine capital, with its 155,000 hectares of vineyards (more than Bordeaux and Bergerac combined) that produce 80% of the country's wine. The vineyard is located between 450 and 1700 meters above sea level.
As always on the great terroirs of the world, French people have settled to try to create wines of excellence. For example, Cheval des Andes, a happy marriage of Château Cheval Blanc, a Premier Grand Cru Classé A from Saint-Emilion and Terrazas de los Andes, created in 1998 by the LVMH group.
Many wineries are now established on this sunny terroir located at the foot of the Andes, and about a hundred are open to the public.
