The Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru wine is a red wine from the Côte de Nuits, recognized as the "Margaux" of Burgundy wines, that is to say as having a "feminine" character.
The name of Chambolle would come from the Latin word "campus", which would suggest that the origin of the village here dates back to the Roman period.
The vineyards of Chambolle-Musigny border, to the north, those of Morey Saint-Denis and Gevrey-Chambertin and, to the south, the hamlet of Vougeot. With a surface area of a little over 180 hectares (including 61 hectares for the 24 first growths), the vineyards of Chambolle-Musigny are located in the heart of the region.
