California is the land of great wines. Located in the west of the United States, California has all the climatic conditions to produce exceptional wines.
Different grape varieties are cultivated in California. Rich, opulent and dense, Chardonnay is particularly present in the Sonoma, Russian River and Carneros areas. Powerful, fruity and greedy, the Cabernet Sauvignon is widely cultivated in the Napa Valley. Rutherford Valley and Oakville are today considered to be among the greatest Cabernet Sauvignon terroirs in the world. Zinfandel, originally from Croatia and called Primitivo in Italy, is an emblematic grape variety of California and has helped forge its identity. California is also the origin of magnificent Pinot Noir vintages, in the Sonoma, Carneros and Santa Barbara regions, areas with a more temperate climate adapted to the cultivation of this grape variety.
Bursting with sunshine, powerful, elegant, California red wines are nowadays part of the essential references for lovers of great wines of the world.
