The Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru is a white wine produced on the delimited parcel of the commune of Puligny-Montrachet. The origin of the name goes back to the Middle Ages, when the Lord of Puligny passed this parcel to his son, the eldest "Chevalier".
The vineyard, with a surface area of a little more than seven hectares, is located above Mount Rachet, on a sloping and very calcareous soil subject to erosion.
The wines are very fine and perfectly balanced. Slightly lighter than Montrachet, they evolve more towards minerality. The Chevalier-Montrachet is richer and fatter than the Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet.
