The AOC Premières-Côtes-de-Bordeaux became on October 31, 2009, Côtes-de-Bordeaux for sweet white wines. The appellation covers the hillsides of the right bank of the Garonne River on a very narrow strip 60 km long and 5 km wide. There are about twenty different soils, from clayey-limestone to gravelly to clayey-gravelly to clay.
The AOC Premières-côtes-de-bordeaux belongs to the Entre-deux-Mers region and produces sweet white wines south of the AOC. The grape variety is composed of the 3 main ones. The white wines, Côtes-de-Bordeaux, are ample, fat and aromatic.
