Biodynamic agriculture is based on the principles of Rudolf Steiner, who understands the crops, the solar system and the earth as a whole connected to each other, another of the most important principles is that the farmer has to give more to the land than what he it takes away, that's why cover crops and natural remedies are very important to give fertility to the land and protect the plant instead of using artificial substances.
