The AOC Coteaux-du-Languedoc extends over 3 departments: Aude, Hérault and Gard, from Narbonne to the gates of Nîmes . The territory covers 50,000 hectares of which 11,500 hectares are planted and in production. This appellation includes 3 recognized AOCs, each with their own specific decree: Faugères, Saint-Chinian and Clairette-du-Languedoc.
There are seven zones corresponding to the pedoclimatic regions which are the subject of a specific recognition within the AOC decree. There are also ten terroirs for which the geographical mention is possible: Vérargues, Saint-Drézéry, Saint-Christol, la Méjanelle, Saint Georges d'Orques, Picpoul-de-Pinet, Quatourze, Cabrières, Montpeyroux and Saint-Saturnin.
The red wines are mainly made from Carignan, Grenache Noir, Cinsault and Syrah grape varieties. Despite the great diversity of the Coteaux-du-Languedoc AOCs, the reds are globally structured and generous.
