The Langhe is an area of hills located south and east of the Tanaro River, in the province of Cuneo, in the Piedmont region of Italy. Piedmont is, for lovers of Italian wine, the sacred land of winemakers. Here and especially in the Langhe, gastronomy and wine are as inseparable as in Burgundy.
The wines of Langhe are characterized by their power, richness, personality and maturity. Each vineyard of the Langhe enjoys its own microclimate.
The Langhe appellation is vinified south of Alba, from nebbiolo, dolcetto, freisa, arneis grapes on heavy marl soils rich in clay. These qualities are fully found in the wines offered by the Elio Altara Estate or Poderi Aldo Conterno.
