Castilla Y León

The appellation Vino de la Tierra de Castilla y Léon V.T. is located in the south of the province of Castilla y Léon. This young appellation, created in 2000, is on the border with the provinces of Madrid and Castilla la Mancha. It is a wine-growing region close to the vineyards of Cebreros and the Sierra de Gredos close to the Mentrida D.O. appellation. 

The soils are divided into two areas, one of granitic sands for the area near the "Valle del Tiétar" and the other one of schist, slate and quartz for the part near La Movida in Cebreros. 

 

The wines from these vineyards are strongly reminiscent of the wines of Mentrida. The vineyards of the appellation represent about 4000 ha and produce red wines based on Grenache. The red wines are rich, full and sunny, but balanced and fine.
