The Chablis AOC benefits the white wines of Burgundy produced in about twenty communes around the town of Chablis in the Yonne. The appellation was granted by a decree of 1938. The vineyards of Chablis thus occupy the hillsides bordering the Serein valley. It is a hilly region whose summits are very often wooded. The vineyard of Chablis includes 4 levels of appellation: Chablis Grand Cru, Chablis Premier Cru, Chablis and Petit-Chablis.
