Yecla is a denomination that has had the Denominación de Origen (DO) since 1975 and covers an area around the town of the same name. Located in the north of the region of Murcia, Yecla is located between Almansa, Alicante and Jumilla.
The soil of the Yecla appellation is sandy, low in organic matter, deep with good permeability. The climate is Mediterranean-continental, with long, hot and dry summers and mild winters favorable to the ripening of the vines.
The grape variety mainly used for Yecla's red wines is Monastrell, complemented by a wide range of other varieties: Grenache, Tempranillo, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. They give fleshy, supple and balanced wines.
