Bordering the Côtes-de-Castillon, Puisseguin-Saint-Emilion is opposite the Saint-Emilion plateau. The appellation covers barely 760 ha and produces about 36,000 hl/year of red wines.
The vineyard is planted on soils sometimes complicated to exploit, composed of clay and limestone resting on a stone base.
Puisseguin-Saint-Emilion produces wines mainly from Merlot blended with Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec. Their material is mellow, fleshy and tasty with a tannic power. They are full-bodied wines, often with good ageing potential.
