On the territory of Ladoix-Serrigny, the vines are divided between ladoix and ladoix premier cru. The vineyard located on the top of the hillside produces great white wines on rather marly and clayey soils. At mid-slope, the chalky, stony soil gives birth to powerful and full-bodied red wines. Lower down, the brown or reddish soil mixes limestone and clay, chaillots or flint limestone residues to produce soft and fruity red wines.
