Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru

The Puligny-Montrachet  appellation is a communal appellation of the Côte de Beaune, in the Côte d'Or region, which includes 17 climats classified as Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru and four grands crus. Among the climats distinguished by a Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru classification, we can mention indiscriminately: Hameau de Blagny, La Truffière, Clos de la Garenne, Le Cailleret, Les Pucelles, Les Perrières, Clos de la Mouchère.

 

The Puligny-Montrachet wine is an AOC of Côte de Beaune, located in the department of Côte-d'or. Close to the Burgundy Grand Crus, the village of Puligny-Montrachet is located between the village of Meursault and Chassagne-Montrachet. 

 

The vines of Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru often occupy brown calcareous soils, or limestone with alternating marly white clayey-limestone, sometimes deep or even hard rock. The appellation is perfectly highlighted within domains such as those of Joseph Drouhin, Domaine d'Auvenay, Domaine Bouchard Père et Fils, or Maison Louis Jadot.  

 

The wines of Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru share with Chassagne-Montrachet the most perfect expression of Chardonnay.
