"located on the oldest bordeaux terroir, château malartic-lagravière has built its reputation since the 18th century. recognized for the impeccable quality of its wines, the estate is one of six bordeaux wines to be classified in white and red. today, the castle is managed by the bonnie family who wished to keep the emblem of this jewel of pessac-léognan: the ship of the admiral of malartic. the year 1997 was marked by profound changes which were accompanied by a considerable improvement in the quality of the wines. the 41 hectares of the vineyard extend over a magnificent terroir of graves. six hectares are reserved for the elaboration of white wines. the whole vineyard is conducted in reasoned struggle and in parcel because the wines of the estate are intended to be the reflection of the exceptional terroir from which they come. benefiting from the advice of the renowned michel rolland, the bonnie family has not only kept its letters of nobility but also offered vintages each year more admirable. the harvest is carried out manually with double sorting. the harvest is then sent to the cuvier which is equipped with thermo-regulated mini truncated tanks allowing winemaking by parcel. the aging takes place over an average of 18 months in new oak barrels for more than half. château malartic-lagravière 2014 rouge is an emblematic wine of the pessac-léognan appellation. combining power, complexity and balance, the 2014 vintage has once again made the unanimity of professionals and wine lovers. the powerful nose revolves around black fruits and develops towards aniseed and woody notes. the tannic structure is incredibly dense and gives the wine an excellent aging potential of up to 30 years. it is thanks to the passion of the owners and the know-how of the entire team that château malartic-lagravière affirms its vintage-after-vintage class."
