domaine dugat-py is a true reference in burgundy, whose know-how goes back four centuries. its secret? the vast majority of the vines are old vines with an average age of 65 years and are the result of massal selections. certified organic, the estate looks after them like a garden. in the cellar, the vinification is done with the least possible intervention to produce nectars that reflect their appellation. a true genius of wine-making, bernard dugat acquired his first parcel in 1973... when he was only 15 years old. little by little, the estate was built up by successive purchases of plots in the greatest growths of the appellation, notably in charmes-chambertin and mazis-chambertin, as well as in the village and regional appellations. today, ten hectares make up the property of this family, which is "part of the gevrey-chambertin landscape", to quote the revue du vin de france. loïc, bernard's son, has taken up the torch and represents the 13th generation of winemakers and wine workers in the family. no less than four centuries of know-how guide these men and women to produce wines of excellence. the wines of the estate are the very expression of the terroir of gevrey (but also of meursault, pommard, fixin...). the estate has been certified organic since 2015. the plots are carefully tended and are mostly made from old vines (65 years old on average) using massal selection. yields are limited in order to maximise concentration, and the classic and careful maturing in barrels (between 50 and 100% new oak) lasts between 14 and 18 months. the wines are appreciated for their power and their respect for the terroir from which they come. this wine has an expressive nose dominated by fruit aromas which are also found on the palate, mixed with animal notes and a touch of vanilla (which comes from the ageing process). the finish is long and intense.
