château des tours, located in sarrians, in the vacqueyras appellation, is owned by the famous emmanuel reynaud, owner of the legendary château rayas in châteauneuf-du-pape and of château fonsalette since 1997. this 40-hectare estate produces under the name of château des tours a red vacqueyras (80% grenache and 20% syrah), a red côtes-du-rhône (65% grenache, 15% cinsault and 20% syrah) and a white côtes-du-rhône (100% grenache). under the name domaine des tours, the estate also produces a red vin de pays de vaucluse (grenache, counoise, syrah, cinsault, merlot and various other grape varieties) and a white vin de pays de vaucluse (100% clairette). finally, under the label "parisy" a rosé table wine made from a blend of grenache and cinsault. in all cases, the red and white grenache grape varieties are magnified. the viticulture is extremely careful and great risks are taken during the harvest. indeed, the grapes are picked as ripe as possible. this estate produces wines of a very high standard: their colour is not very intense, but the wines are extremely deep, slender, fruity and of a rare balance. their complexity and ageing potential are particularly renowned and sought after. it is also important to know that, from the simple vin de pays to the vacqueyras, the bottles are sold after a few years of ageing on the estate. the rosé of emmanuel reynaud's château des tours (rayas) is quite simply a pure delight, with a bomb of fruit on the nose (crushed strawberries). it has a glycerin mouthfeel and is rich, with good volume and a suave side. a truly unique rosé!
