Dealu Mare (the big hill, in Romanian) is the most famous wine region in Romania; located about a hundred kilometers northeast of Bucharest, it stretches on the edge of the Carpathian Mountains for about sixty kilometers. Stony soils on a limestone matrix, a continental climate, cold in winter, but abundantly sunny during the growing season, and the help of the wind to cleanse the vegetation, everything here contributes to the success of the vine. Especially in white wine, as in Sahateni.
